Bertha was born in 1054 in Vlaardingen, Netherlands.  Bertha's father was Floris I Count of Holland and her mother was Gertrude Princess Of Saxony.  Her paternal grandparents were Dirk III Count of Holland & West Friesland and Otelhild Princess of Saxony; her maternal grandparents were Bernard II Duke of Saxony and Eilika Margravine Of Schweinfurt. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Albrecht, Dirk V, Pieter, Floris, Floris, Machteld and Adela (Christina).  She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 40 in 1094 in Montreuil-Sur-Loire, France.

‌Bertha and Phillipe I were married in a religious ceremony in 1072 in France.  They had four sons and two daughters, named Louis VI, Henri, Charles, Eudes, Constance and Constance.
