Joan was born in 1188 in London, Middlesex, England.  Joan's father was John "Lackland" King of England and her mother is Agatha de Ferrers.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry II Plantagenet King of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine. She had ten half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Henry III, Richard, Osbert, Oliver, Geoffrey, John, Henry, Richard, Eudo, Ivo, Joane, Isabel, Eleanor and Isabel "la Blanche".  She died in Aberconwy, Arllechwedd Isaf, Caernarvonshire, Wales.  She was buried in Llan-Faes, Dindaethwy, Anglesey, Wales.
