Nymphas was born on March 7th, 1785 in Benson,Rutland,Vermont. Nymphas' father was Rufus Bassett and his mother was Jedidah Handy. His paternal grandparents were William Bassett and UNKNOWN Lydea. He had a brother named Rufus. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 88 on October 16th, 1873 in Taney,MO.
They had eight sons and two daughters, named Bernard Handy, Jonah Bruce, Sylvester, Samuel, Jeremiah O., Nymphus, Oliver Clemens, Rufus, Olive and Hannah.
