Laura Agnes was born on March 12th, 1875 in Monroe County, Indiana. Laura Agnes' father was David Thomas Shields and her mother was Sarah Frances Mize. Her paternal grandparents were William Henry Harrison Shields and Mary Ellen Hudlin. She had five brothers and six sisters, named David Francis, Charles Mahlon, James Henry, Nathan Homer, Troy, Mary Elizabeth, Lillie Christina, Sarah Jane "Jennie", Almeda, Ola Mae and Rosa Leona. She was the sixth oldest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 95 on February 1st, 1971 in Spencer, Owen Co., Indiana. She was buried in Clear Creek Cemetery, Clear Creek, Monroe Co., Indiana.-
