Catherine "Katie" Shields

Catherine "Katie" was born about 1854 in Monroe County, Indiana.  Catherine "Katie"'s father was John Shields and her mother was Eliza Jane Blakely.  Her paternal grandparents were William L., Sr. Shields and Nancy Elizabeth Nash; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Blakely and Elizabeth McFall. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Thomas Jefferson, Frank P., John F., Mary E., Rebecca M., Eliza J., Anna, Susannah and Elizabeth.  She was the youngest of the ten children.

‌Catherine "Katie" and Joseph S. were married in a religious ceremony on June 26th, 1878 in Monroe County, Indiana.
