Roy George was born on April 30th, 1918 in Marengo, Iowa Co., IA. Roy George's father was William Garfield Thomas and his mother was Mary Winifred Simmons. His paternal grandparents were Abraham Thomas and Mary Evans; his maternal grandparents were William Heald Simmons and Josephine Pettit. He had eight brothers and two sisters, named Robert Abraham, Melvin William, Clifford James, Ralph Edward, Allen Joseph, Glenn Frederick, Charles Franklin, Richard John, Marianne Harriet and Elizabeth Marie. He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 65 on April 8th, 1984 in Nebraska City, NE.General Notes
