Josephine Pettit 
Josephine was born on December 8th, 1862 in Green Castle, Johnson Co., IA. Josephine's father was Patrick Petit and her mother was Elizabeth Lyons. She was an only child. She died at the age of 60 on September 11th, 1923. She was buried in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo, Iowa Co., IA.General Notes

Josephine moved with her parents in 1882 to a claim near Henry, Clark
County, South Dakota. She was married to William Heald Simmons in South
Dakota in 1884 and came back to Marengo where she resided thereafter.
She was the mother of 11 children, three of whom died in infancy.
