His paternal grandparents were Abraham Thomas and Mary Evans; his maternal grandparents were William Heald Simmons and Josephine Pettit. He had eight brothers and two sisters, named Robert Abraham, Melvin William, Clifford James, Roy George, Ralph Edward, Glenn Frederick, Charles Franklin, Richard John, Marianne Harriet and Elizabeth Marie. He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children. He died at 6 months old on October 9th, 1921 in Marengo, Iowa Co., IA.General Notes
