From Indenture of 1808 it is assumed that Job was living with Jane Beaven, presumably an aunt acting as mother

Committed by T. Bruges, Esq. charged on the oath of Henry Stone, a serjeant belongong to His Majesty's barracks at Trowbridge, on a violent suspicion of having in company with Samuel Selfe, his master, feloniously stolen from and out of the hospital belonging to the said barracks, eight blankets and six paliasses, the property of His Majesty. warrant dated July 24, 1809.
Appeared at Wiltshire Assizes in March 1810 along with his master Samuel Selfe, who was found guilty and sentenced "To be transported beyond the Seas for the Term of 7 years". The charge for Samuel Selfe was "For Stealing on the 3d June last at the parish of Trowbridge 8 blankets & other Goods val. £3:2:0 the ppty of the King"
In the case of Job Beaven it was declared "Admitted Witnesses for the Crown and having given Evidence Let them be Discharged by proclamation"
