Eleanor's father was Thomas Mitchell and her mother was Betty dJoshua Beaven.  Her paternal grandparents were Charles Mitchel and Elizabeth; her maternal grandparents were Joshua Bevan and Ann Summers. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Job, Daniel, Emanuel, Anna, Eliza and Eliza.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named George, Joan, Mary, Jane and Ann.
