Joseph's father was Thomas Woodworth (Woodward) and his mother was Hannah Kemp.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Woodworth and Alice Dobb. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Samuel, Thomas, James, Thomas, Hannah, Jane and Sarah.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 7 in July 1829 in Heswall.  He was buried on July 30th, 1829 in Heswall.¹
