Jane's father was Thomas Woodworth (Woodward) and her mother was Hannah Kemp. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Woodworth and Alice Dobb. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, Thomas, Joseph, James, Thomas, Hannah and Sarah. She was the sixth oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 28 in 1856.
