Margaret's father was Thomas Murphy Wallace and her mother was Mary Alice Oxton.  Her maternal grandparents were Joseph Oxton and Mary Lewis. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Thomas, George, Harold, Edith, Eva, Ivy and Daisy.  She was the oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 78 in 1968 in Liverpool.²
