George's father was Thomas Murphy Wallace and his mother was Mary Alice Oxton.  His maternal grandparents were Joseph Oxton and Mary Lewis. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, Thomas, Harold, Margaret, Edith, Eva, Ivy and Daisy.  He was the third youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 87 in April 1993 in Liverpool.  He was buried on April 6th, 1993 in Liverpool.³
