Edith's father was Thomas Murphy Wallace and her mother was Mary Alice Oxton.  Her maternal grandparents were Joseph Oxton and Mary Lewis. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Thomas, George, Harold, Margaret, Eva, Ivy and Daisy.  She was the third oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 1 in November 1895 in West Derby.  She was buried on November 6th, 1896 in Liverpool.³
