Ann's father was Richard Tomlinson and her mother was Sarah Ann Barnes.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Tomlinson and Ann Bolton; her maternal grandparents were James Barnes and Sarah Barnes. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Richard, Thomas, Alice and Ellen.  She was the second oldest of the five children. She had a half-brother named Peter.  She died at the age of 6 in September 1883 in Bolton.  She was buried on August 30th, 1883 at Tonge-with-Haulgh Cemetery.^3 4
