Prudence Thornton

Prudence was born in 1821 in Hampshire and her christening took place there on January 14th, 1821.¹²

Prudence's father was William Thornton and her mother was Mary Dunn. She had four brothers and six sisters, named William, James, George, Joseph, Mary, Annie, Maria, Ruth, Frances and Eliza. She was the oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 69 in December 1890 in Scarborough.³

- Prudence married Thomas Kirkness in Pontefract in Q4-1847.
  
  Prudence Dunn was a visitor of her parents in Essex in 1851, but is not the same person (as she was unmarried and 5 years older). She was most probably her mother's sister or cousin.
  
  Prudence had at least 7 children with Thomas in Scarborough. She died there in 1890, aged 69.
