Nancy was born in 1816 in Farnworth and her baptism took place on August 25th, 1816 at St. Saviour (Ringley).1  Nancy's father was James Stones and her mother was Hannah (Ann) Parr.  Her paternal grandparents were Daniel Stones and Ann Mather. She had three brothers and five sisters, named John, Daniel, James, Ann, Sally, Hannah, Alice and Betty.  She was the fifth oldest of the nine known children.
