Sarah was born in 1787 in Crosland Hill and her christening took place on July 8th, 1787 in Almondbury.1  Sarah's father was John Stocks and her mother was Sarah Gledhill . She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Richard, John, Richard, Noah, Sammy, David, James, Betty, Mary, Hannah and Phebe.  She was the seventh oldest of the twelve children.
