Richard's father was John Stocks and his mother was Sarah Gledhill . He had six brothers and five sisters, named John, Richard, Noah, Sammy, David, James, Betty, Mary, Hannah, Sarah and Phebe.  He was the second oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 1 in December 1775 in Berry Brow.  He was buried on December 22nd, 1775 in Almondbury.¹
