Mary was born in 1762 in Deighton and her baptism took place on April 16th, 1762 at St. Peter (Huddersfield).1  Mary's father was William Stocks and her mother was Sarah Brook.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Stocks and Eliza Wilkinson. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Jno, David, Charles, Fanny, Sarah, Elizabeth, Ellen and Rachel.  She was the third youngest of the nine children.



Mary's family with Joseph Sykes

‌Mary and Joseph were married in a religious ceremony on December 31st, 1797 in Almondbury by minister Walter Smith and witnessed by John Turner & John Heaton.1   They had a son named Joseph.  The family line is yet to be completed.
