Fanny's father was William Stocks and her mother was Sarah Brook.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Stocks and Eliza Wilkinson. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Jno, David, Charles, Sarah, Elizabeth, Ellen, Mary and Rachel.  She was the oldest of the nine children.
