Margaret (Peggy) Riding

Margaret, known as Peggy, was born on March 19th, 1780 in Adlington and her baptism took place on March 24th, 1780 in Blackrod.¹²

  Bishop's Transcripts shows baptism on 24 March (not the 19th), so perhaps on is the birth date.

Peggy's father was Thomas Riding and her mother was Jane Walsh. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Hugh, Thomas, Jonathan, Sarah, Catherine, Ellen and Jenny. She was the second oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 79 in June 1859. Her burial was on June 17th, 1859 in Rivington.³
