Mary was born in March 1858 in Birkenhead.¹

Birth Notes

Mary's father was James Proctor and her mother was Mary Brereton. Her maternal grandparents were Abraham Brereton and Ann Orrett. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Abraham, Abraham, John, Anna, Elizabeth, Sarah and Mary. She was the oldest of the eight children.
