Margaret was born in June 1858 in Salford.1  Margaret's father was James Partington and her mother was Frances (Fanny) Eddowes.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Eddowes and Charlotte Morris. She had six sisters named Ellen, Emma, Mary, Charlotte, Emma and Elizabeth.  She was the second youngest of the seven children.
