Lizzie, known as Elizabeth, was born in June 1881 in Wrexham.

Elizabeth's father was Robert Parry and her mother was Emma Eddowes. Her maternal grandparents were George Eddowes and Mary Jones. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Harry, George, Robert, John, Harriet, Emma and Agnes. She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
