George's father was Richard Orrell and his mother was Sarah Gorse.  His paternal grandparents were George Orrell and Mary Molyneux; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Gorse and Alice Mawdsley. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, George, Richard, Henry, Mary and Alice.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.  He died in an accident or as a result of an injury, Run over by a Horse and Cart, at the age of 4 on July 5th, 1876 in Parbold.²
