Ann was born in 1829 in Sharples and her christening took place on November 15th, 1829 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1 2  Ann's father was William Nightingale and her mother was Peggy (Margaret) Riding.  Her paternal grandparents were Humphrey Nightingale and Mary Hart; her maternal grandparents were Joseph Riding and Molly Gorner. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Joseph, John, Mary, Ellen, Eliza and Alice.  She was the third youngest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 70 in April 1899 in Bolton.  She was buried on April 30th, 1899 in Astley Bridge.3 4

‌Ann and Samuel were married in a religious ceremony on February 19th, 1849 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by a curate and witnessed by James Brooks & James Liptrot.8  They had four sons and two daughters, named John, Samuel, William, George, Alice and Margaret.  There are no more children.
