Alice Nightingale

Alice was born about September 1836 in Sharples and her christening took place on October 2nd, 1836 in Bolton.^1 2

Alice's father was William Nightingale and her mother was Peggy (Margaret) Riding.  Her paternal grandparents were Humphrey Nightingale and Mary Hart; her maternal grandparents were Joseph Riding and Molly Gorner. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Joseph, John, Mary, Ellen, Ann and Eliza.  She was the youngest of the eight children.  She died in March 1909 in Bolton.³

‌Alice and Joseph were married in a religious ceremony in 1859 at St. Peter's (Bolton).⁴
