William (Will) Mather

William, known as Will, was born about 1775 in Over Darwen and his baptism took place on June 1st, 1777 at Over Darwen Lower Chapel.¹

  William & Betty were both aged 64 on the 1841 census, living at Bolton Street, Over Darwen.

Will's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Ellen Chambers. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Henry, John, Thomas, John, Betty, Hannah, Ellen, Nanny, Molly and Alice. He was the oldest of the eleven children. He died in November 1858 in Over Darwen. His burial was on November 13th, 1858 in Over Darwen.²
