Samuel was born in June 1865 in Bolton.1  Samuel's father was George Mather and his mother was Esther Glaizbrook.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Mather and Ellen Rigby. He had three brothers and four sisters, named William, George, George, Ellen, Mary, Alice and Emma.  He was the third youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 85 on March 12th, 1951 in New Jersey (NJ).  He was buried on March 15th, 1951 in New Jersey (NJ).2

‌Samuel and Margaret were married in a religious ceremony on May 26th, 1888 at St. Peter & Paul RC Church (Bolton).4  They had a son and two daughters, named Herbert, May and Agnes.  There are no more children.
