John Mather

John was born in 1827 in Little Hulton and his baptism took place on August 12th, 1827 at St. Mary (Ellenbrook).¹²

John's father was William Mather and his mother was Martha Tyldesley. His paternal grandparents were Ellis Mather and Ann Thornley; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Tildsey and Martha Mort. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Matthew, Edwin, Samuel, Ann and Alice. He was the fourth oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 62 in 1889 in Farnworth.³
