Matthew Mather

Matthew was born in 1825 in Little Hulton and his baptism took place on December 25th, 1825 at Peel Chapel conducted by Curate W. Allen.¹

Matthew's father was William Mather and his mother was Martha Tyldesley.  His paternal grandparents were Ellis Mather and Ann Thornley; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Tildsey and Martha Mort. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John, Edwin, Samuel, Ann and Alice.  He was the third oldest of the six children.
