Jesse Mather

Jesse was born in 1838 in Prestwich and his baptism took place on January 7th, 1838 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Prestwich).¹

Jesse's father was Robert Mather and his mother was Alice Whitworth.  His paternal grandparents were Jesse Mather and Hannah Emmerson. He had a brother and four sisters, named Richard, Nancy, Eliza, Margaret and Mary.  He was the oldest of the six children. He had two half-sisters named Sarah and Elizabeth.  He died at the age of 12 in March 1850 in Whitefield.²
