Hannah was born in March 1860 in Farnworth.1  Hannah's father was William Mather and her mother was Hannah (Ann) Wolfendale.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Mather and Elizabeth (Betty) Hardman. She had four brothers and six sisters, named John, Hugh, William, James, Mary, Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, Ann and Catherine.  She was the second youngest of the eleven children.
