Elizabeth was born on June 6th, 1820 in Salford and her baptism took place on July 7th, 1820 in Manchester.1  Elizabeth's father was Joseph Mather and her mother was Ann Livsley.  Her paternal grandparents were Abraham Mather and Hannah Dale. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, George, Joseph, George, Sarah, Mary and Anne.  She was the third oldest of the eight known children.
