Elizabeth's father was Francis Mather and her mother was Rachel Whitworth Mills.  Her paternal grandparents were James Chadwick Mather and Sarah Charlton. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Francis, William, Arthur, Thomas, Emma, Betsy and Sarah.  She was the oldest of the eight children.  She died at 3 months old in November 1854 in Stand.  She was buried on November 6th, 1854 in Stand.³
