Elizabeth's father was Wright Mather and her mother was Margaret Barker.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Betty (Elizabeth) Morris. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Richard, John, Isaac, Agnes, Nancy and Margaret.  She was the second oldest of the seven children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named James, Samuel and Mary.
