Edward Mather

Edward was born in September 1906 in Ashton-under-Lyne.¹

Edward's father was Daniel Mather and his mother was Susannah Morris. His paternal grandparents were Charles Mather and Betty Crook. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Charles, Harry, Sarah and Elsie. He was the youngest of the five children.

- Edward was the only child not baptised. He was aged 4 in 1911.
  
  In 1921, Harry (b.1902) and Edward (b.1906) were with parents Daniel and Susannah at Droylsden, Ashton-under-Lyne
  
  In 1935, Edward Mather married Edith May Lyon at Audenshaw St Stephen, Tameside, (the only Edward Mather marriage registered at Ashton). They had a son Derek in 1935 and daughter Gladys in 1937
