Catherine was born on June 11th, 1830 in Lowton and her baptism took place on March 15th, 1834 at St. Luke (Lowton).1  Catherine's father was Charles Mather and her mother was Mary Bently. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Thomas, James, Charles, Isaac, John, Ann, Betty, Ann and Mary.  She was the third youngest of the eleven children.
