Ann was born in January 1831 in Blackrod and her baptism took place on January 16th, 1831 at St. Katherine (B'rod).1  Ann's father was James Mather and her mother was Ellen Hope.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Entwistle; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Hope and Betty Hope. She had two brothers named George and John.  She was the youngest of the three children. She had two half-brothers named Thomas and Ralph.  She died at the age of 81 on February 1st, 1912 in Blackrod.  She was buried on February 5th, 1912 at St. Katherine (B'rod).2 2

‌Ann and Thomas were married in a religious ceremony on January 11th, 1857 at St. Peter's (Bolton).3   They had two sons named James and John.  There are no more children.
