Alice Mather

Alice was born in 1824 in Westhoughton and her baptism took place on April 11th, 1824 at St. Bartholomew (Westhoughton).¹

Alice's father was Geffrey (Jeffery) Mather and her mother was Catherine Gregory. Her paternal grandparents were William Mather and Mary Green. She had four brothers and four sisters, named William, Joseph, John, Edward, Ellen, Ellen, Ann and Mary. Ellen and Alice were twins. She died at the age of 71 in June 1895 in Horwich.²

  1 June 1856 Alice Mather of Lostock, daughter of Geoffry Mather a weaver married Simon Ratcliffe a weaver of Lostock, son of Robert at St Peters, Bolton.
  
  In 1871, Alice and Simon (47,53) and step-daughter Catherine (27) were Silk Wevers. Grandson and granddaughter Moses (7) and Mary (4) were also there.
