Alice Mather

Alice was born in 1814 in Little Bolton and her baptism took place on January 4th, 1815 in Bolton conducted by Curate Thomas Brocklebank.¹²

Alice's father was Solomon Mather and her mother was Mary (Mally) Grime. Her paternal grandparents were Isaac Mather and Alice Fielding. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Isaac, Solomon, James, Amos, Betty, Catherine and Fanny. She was the third oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 81 in 1895 in Little Bolton.³

General Notes
- In 1841, Alice Hargreaves (25, F.S.) was living at Crownpoint, Edgworth, with her daughter Margaret (4) and parents Solomon and Mally (both 50).
  
  In 1851, Alice was working as cook for father Solomon (a publican). She was recorded as from Little Bolton when she married Joseph Beddows the following year.
  
  15 Dec 1852, Alice Hargreves (daughter of Solomon Mather, publican) married Joseph Beddows at St George, Little Bolton.
  
  Alice was missing in 1861
  
  In 1871, Joseph and Alice were at the Boars Head, Bolton, so it seems Alice kept her fathers business going as an Inn Keeper.
