Thomas was born on May 21st, 1812 in Ewloe and his baptism took place on June 3rd, 1812 in Hawarden.1  Thomas' father was Robert Lewis and his mother was Rachel Millington.  His maternal grandparents were John Millington and Mary Connah. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, John, Edward, Charles, Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Mary, Rachel and Rachel.  He was the fourth youngest of the ten children.
