Charles' father was Robert Lewis and his mother was Rachel Millington.  His maternal grandparents were John Millington and Mary Connah. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, John, Thomas, Edward, Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Mary, Rachel and Rachel.  He was the youngest of the ten children.

‌Charles and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on January 22nd, 1842 in Hawarden.¹   They had a son and a daughter, named Charles and Elizabeth.
