John's father was Robert Lewis and his mother was Rachel Millington.  His maternal grandparents were John Millington and Mary Connah. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, Thomas, Edward, Charles, Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Mary, Rachel and Rachel.  He was the fifth youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 26 in 1836 in Ewloe.  He was buried on July 11th, 1836.²
