John's father was Robert Lewis and his mother was Rachel Millington.  His maternal grandparents were John Millington and Mary Connah. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, Thomas, Edward, Charles, Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Mary, Rachel and Rachel.  He was the oldest of the ten children.  He died at 8 months old in June 1801 in Ewloe.  He was buried on June 27th, 1802 in Hawarden.¹
