Richard was born in 1740 in Beeston and his baptism took place on February 27th, 1740 in Bunbury.1 2  Richard's father was Richard Ledsham and his mother was Ann Lucas.  His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Richard Ledsham and Mary Sellers; his maternal grandparents were Richard Lucas and Elizabeth Chancelour. He had a brother and five sisters, named William, Sarah, Mary, Ann, Martha and Hannah.  He was the oldest of the seven known children.  He died at the age of 59 in November 1799 in Bunbury.  His burial was on November 26th, 1799 in Beeston.3 4
