Martha was born in 1757 in Beeston and her baptism took place on March 6th, 1757 in Bunbury.1  Martha's father was Richard Ledsham and her mother was Ann Lucas.  Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Richard Ledsham and Mary Sellers; her maternal grandparents were Richard Lucas and Elizabeth Chancelour. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Richard, William, Sarah, Mary, Ann and Hannah.  She was the sixth oldest of the seven known children.
