Ralph was born in November 1792 in Harwood and his christening took place on February 3rd, 1793 at St. Anne (Turton).1
Birth Notes
Born late 1972 (about November) if 47 when died.
From Deane on Marriage record of 1817. According to Death Index, Ralph was 47 when he died, so born about 1792. We cant be sure where Ralph was born, but his children were born in Halliwell, and the family were living at New Road Halliwell after he died in 1839/41.
Name: Ralph Kay Event Type: Baptism Baptism Date: 3 Feb 1793 Baptism Place: Bolton-le-Moors, St Peter, Lancashire, England Parish as it Appears: Turton Father: James Kay Mother: Betty Kay Reference Number: L243/1/2/2 Archive Roll: 855
There are two christening/family records with James and Betty as parents from Halliwell. The date fits perfectly with a date of birth in about 1892. Also, his first daughter was Elizabeth (Betty) and second son was Samuel.
Ralph's father was James Kay and his mother was Betty Holt. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, James, Anne, Sarah and Betty. He was the oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 47 in December 1839 in Bolton.2
Death Notes
Ruth Widow in 1851, and presumably also 1841 as Ralph not present on census, so died after 1837 (his last child was born then) but before 1841.
FreeBMD has matches for 1839 and 1844, but 1839 is the more likely as wanst on 1841 census or a witness to his daughters wedding of 1843.

General Notes
Ralph is father-in-law of my 2x great-grandfather (not a DNA line).
Father of Elizabeth Kay recorded on Elizabeth's wedding certificate of 1843, but not a witness. Was not a witness or prersent on 1841 census, so probably died before 1841.
Occupation Details
From before 1817 to 1843 Ralph's occupation was Finisher full time in manufacturing in Halliwell.
Occupation Notes
Finisher recorded occupation on Elizabeth's Baptism record and Marriage Certificate
Kay family living in Halliwell in 1841, before Elizabeth married John Mather. Elizabeth was living at Halliwell Road, Halliwell at time of marriage to John in 1843 which may be the same road as New Road as both appear adjacent on 1841 census. Ruth and the four youngest daughters (Hannah, Mary, Ruth and Rachel) were still there in 1851
